Memorial Day 2010

It seems that each time we visit Tutu's grave,
there is a change in the cemetery.
The choice to place this honored veteran
in such a beautiful place was truly an inspired decision.

The ceremony was partly surrounded by respectful flag-holding veterans in Harley Davidson vests and jackets. There was such emotion from some of these men and women who had fought bravely for freedom.

For our young ones, it was a little difficult to sit still,
but thank goodness we had brought our digital camera.
We took about 40 pictures: closeup shots, distant shots
(Air Force plane flew over our heads), etc.

The grass was nice and thick which helped entertain them as well.

We didn't expect to see anyone we knew there,
but were happy to see the cousins come.
What a great surprise!

The rest of the day was spent by picking blackberries
and visiting the Sacramento County Fair.

It was definitely a pleasant family day.
