Movie Reviews - Son #2

"Up"
Last Friday (May 29th,2009) after school, I thought it would be a regular time going home. I was wrong.

When I saw my mom she said Logan- An old friend- was finally going to hang out again! She said I was going to see the movie: "Up". Logan brought his other friends :Jack,Katie, Eric,and Nathan.

"Up" is a movie about a man who is forced to leave his home and go to a retirement area. But his wife made him promise to get them both to paradise falls in South America. They were both fans of the explorer who went there and found a bird skeleton. But it looked so ridiculous that they didn't believe that it was real bird bones.

The main character, Karl Frederickson, went there in house by floating it with balloons. When he left there was a boy scout on his porch. They both found the bird that the explorer was looking for. It was up to them to protect it.

My favorite parts of the movie were when the dog's collar was not working and it sounded funny and he was wearing the cone of shame which seemed silly to me. And when Karl spit his dentures at the bad guy.

I give this movie 4 stars.

Memorial Day

In memory of our Dad, Tutu, and Father-in-law,
we went to place flowers on his gravesite.
While there, a man was walking around playing a bagpipe.
It was such a beautiful sentiment.
To honor our favorite Air Force Veteran, we drove to an
Asian market in the Tower District that he would visit with
his own children when they were younger.
We purchased our favorite...Pocky Sticks.
Mom was hoping to find some pickled radishes but they were all out.
She is now on the hunt for one of her favorite Asian delicacies.

Side note: To keep some identity private, we edited the gravestone.
If you went to visit there, it would be in perfect condition.

One Fantastic Saturday! Part 1

Yesterday was one busy but enjoyable Saturday for our flock.

It began with Dad and Son #1 participating in "Walk 'N Rock", a walking fundraiser that will benefit local Sacramento children and youth programs. They (including Dad's fellow coworkers) began their walk at Raley's River Cats baseball field, circled around the state capitol, headed across the Tower Bridge and ended back at Raley's field. While walking the route, they got to listen to a couple of local bands and had a light snack at the end.

Our next event that we attended was the baptism of a wonderful gal... cousin and niece EKM. She looked so excited and we were grateful that our whole family
was able to be there for her very special day.

One Fantastic Saturday! Part 3

We got to relax a bit, but then went to celebrate Mom's birthday at Marie Callendar's. We all enjoyed our delicious entrees.


Finally, while the kids got to hang out with cousins until about 11:00 at night,
Mom and Dad had a great opportunity to
clap, sing and whoop it up with the 70s & 80s rock band, Journey.
We were pleasantly surprised to hear the new lead singer,
Arnel Pineda whose voice resembles the former lead, Steve Perry.
We are also curious about the opening group "The Lost Boys".
They were amazing young men to hear and hope
that we'll be hearing more from them in the near future.

Mystery Flowers

Where did these flowers come from? Did I plant this?
I found these beautiful flowers in my backyard this week!
I love having a backyard with these types of surprises.

5. Children who make their own Mac & Cheese, Oriental-flavored
Ramen Noodles, Hamburgers, and Scrambled Eggs.
6. Children who are willing to help out their siblings who struggle with.... homework, getting to the next level in a video game, opening a water bottle, putting in toddler's dvds, etc.
7. Children who read to their siblings.
8. Children who break out into song & dance.
9. Hugs, Hugs, Hugs!

Grandma A's Roses

I went to see my mom last week ... just to hang out.
I looked out her sliding glass door that leads to her backyard
and saw these beautiful roses trying to climb over her back fence!
She had thought the entire plant was dead and thought that she had completely dug it out.
But.... after years of growth on the other side of her fence,
they are wanting to come back and give her and all those who see them joy and beauty.
Their aroma was like heaven everytime I went up the stairs these past couple of week.
I love spring and seeing this natural beauty!
