Hard Working Dad (being an illustrator himself) is a big fan of Norman
Rockwell. We each put on our date lists to go to the Crocker Art Museum
to see the local exhibit. It was a bonus when HW Dad's #3 Sister gifted us
passes to share the experience with our whole family! So instead of a
date, we made it a family outing. Rockwell is a story teller! The
children had great fun imagining each story behind each illustration.
Our favorite part was the wall of magazine covers!
On a slightly different subject, but still thinking of family, we had a scare back in October that I'm now finally able to share. As I (Very Involved Mom) was taking Sons #2 and #3 to Jujitsu, our home was invaded. Son #1 was home with Lovely Daughter when 2 people (a man and a woman) began pounding on our front door, ringing the door bell, and yelling repeatedly, "Is anyone home?" Our children did not answer. Thinking nobody was home, the "invaders" kicked open our front door and heard our children run, shut and lock our master bedroom.
They then kicked into that door where Son #1 had scrabbled to find something to defend them (a hair flat iron), stood to his tallest (5'10") and loudly yelled, "Who are you?" With that, the "invaders" fled. For a 15 year old, this was incredibly frightening! Because of his bravery, Lovely Daughter never saw the "invaders", only heard them. Though shaken up, he held her and called for help (Mom, Dad, and 911-five police cars on our front yard).
Saw this and immediately sent it to Son #1 via email. It's my feelings about him.
Every morning before the children head off to school, we have a prayer for their safety.
One never knows how this prayer will be answered during their day.
I know that our Heavenly Father was guiding and protecting my children that day and everyday.
It took about 2 months to install a new door.
We feel a bit safer with a higher (artistic) window, stronger locks and a peep hole.
I LOVE MY FAMILY!
